Fred Willard on Arrest: Adult Movie Theaters Are Great Places to Sleep

But, ever true to his own comic persona, Willard's legal scuffle in an adult-movie theater is making for solid joke material.
"Jimmy, what do you want to talk about first?" he said, tongue-in-cheek, on Thursday's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. "You know, let me say this: It's the last time I'm going to listen to my wife when she says, 'Why don't you go out to see a movie?' "
Recalling his run-in with the law, the 72-year-old, who was arrested, cited and released during a routine police investigation at the Tiki Theater on Los Angeles's Santa Monica Boulevard, told Fallon: "I went in and realized I was the only one awake and sober and conscious."
Fallon, too, kept it light, asking Willard, "Well, the movie you went to see, was it The Firm? Was it Free Willy? Was it Anaconda?"
All joking aside, the Trust Us with Your Life ABC improv show host said, "It's very embarrassing. It's embarrassing as hell."
Reiterating his lawyer's sentiment that he did not violate any law, Willard added, "Nothing happened. I did nothing wrong. Everything is being sorted out as we speak."
According to his version of the story, which he hinted at on Twitter, the night was actually a total snooze.
"My summary of the whole evening was it's an interesting theater, a boring movie and a great place to take a nap," he said.
