A 3-year-old bulldog named Bella Mae messed with the wrong porcupine – and ended up with a face covered in quills. When the spiny creature stopped by Bella Mae's owners' Oklahoma garden to take a drink from the pond, Bella Mae got a little too close for everybody's comfort.
Hundreds of quills got lodged in Bella Mae's head and paws, and the injured pooch had to undergo emergency surgery at the Animal Emergency Center in Norman, Okla. It took two hours to complete the surgery, but Bella Mae is now recovering at home.
