Mike "Boogie" Malin and Janelle Pierzina
's ominous voice promised a "shocking turn of events as the veto competition changes everything" – and the show did not disappoint.
After nominations, Wil was on the block as a pawn and Frank as the main target. But since the coaches
have entered the game, everyone was afraid who would be a replacement nominee if the veto was used. "The coaches have to stick together," Janelle told fellow veteran Dan. "We have to get Boogie on board."
But that was easier said than done for Dan, who had admitted to Boogie that the house had been planning on eliminating his closest ally, Frank.
"If I get picked to play the veto and I win, I am going to take [Frank] off," Boogie said to Dan in the storage room. "Do you want him hunting you down after he wanted to work with you?"
The coaches continued to fall apart after Britney caught Janelle whispering strategy with Frank. "Classic Janelle," Britney told Danielle and Dan in the HoH room. "It's these kind of shady moves that make you be like, 'Are you serious right now?' "
With so much on the line, everyone wanted to win the power of veto – except Ian, who chose to spend 24 hours living "a dog's life."
In the end it came down to nominee Frank and HoH Danielle, who was victorious, leaving Frank to wear a "spiritard" while she wore the golden veto medallion.
"Frank and I will go to work
," said Boogie, using a phrase made popular by Janelle last week. "I might have to turn on a few people. Janelle has been a huge rival of mine over two seasons. I want her out early this time."
While Boogie's former player Ian was literally in the doghouse, he was in a prime position to turn on his former teammates. "Ian reminds me of a younger version of myself. He's a loyal number," Dan said of Ian before bringing him into an alliance called the "Quack Pack."
But Boogie was hoping to make an alliance of his own, matching three players with their former coaches: Danielle and Dan, Boogie and Frank and Britney and Shane. Even then, the coaches had not fully given up on working together. Things came to a head when all four veterans met in the HoH room.
"I don't trust you," Boogie told a Janelle. "I'm not willing to send Frank home this week."
Boogie proposed that Janelle's former player Joe be put on the block, but when Janelle hesitated to respond, the other coaches became weary – and Janelle became public enemy No. 1, replacing Wil on the block.
"I was so shocked to find myself on the block that I didn't even put on makeup," Janelle said of veto ceremony. "I have no idea what happened but I'm not going down without a fight."
