Joe Simpson Arrested for DUI: Report

Jessica and Ashlee Simpson's father, Joe Simpson, was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated and spent the night behind bars last weekend.

Simpson, 54, was pulled over at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday while driving on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, Calif., authorities tell TMZ.

After he was stopped, police, reportedly acting on the suspicion that the 54-year-old might have been drunk, handcuffed and took Simpson into custody.

After spending the night in jail, he was released at 9:41 the next morning without needing to post bail, says TMZ, which also notes that the nearly week-old case has yet to be sent to prosecutors in the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.



This is reportedly Simpson's first such offense.
