Talk about sending a message.

Chad Johnson (formerly Ochocinco), normally a vivacious Twitter presence with more than 3 million followers, has finally broken his silence – on Twitter – following his arrest for allegedly head-butting his new wife Evelyn Lozada. "I haven't had to tread water in a long time.…" he wrote on Tuesday. "Special thank you to my fans...family...friends for keeping me afloat..."

Also, the football star and Dancing with the Stars alum changed his Twitter profile picture to a road sign pointing in two directions: "Rock" and "Hard Place."

Lozada, meanwhile, has been more vocal. On Tuesday, she filed for divorce after only 41 days of marriage – and she spoke out, saying, "Domestic violence is not okay, and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well."

Since the arrest, Johnson, 34, who Tweets as @ochocinco (a nickname referencing his football number, 85, and the name he took officially for a few years), lost his contract with the Miami Dolphins, a scene that was documented on HBO's reality show Hard Knocks Tuesday.

And VH1 shelved his planned reality show, Ev and Ocho.
