Kevin & Danielle Jonas: Dogs Prep Us for Babies

Kevin and Danielle Jonas have love, marriage, and while they don't have children – yet – they're getting plenty of training thanks to their two dogs.

The couple, who were married in December 2009, have two little ones at home: a 4-lb., 2½-year-old Morkie named Riley, and a 3-lb., 1½-year-old Maltese named Maci.

"They're getting us ready for kids," Danielle tells PEOPLE. "Definitely, especially when they're puppies. Every hour they're waking up."

Kevin agrees, and says that their individual parenting styles have come into relief in the process. "Dani's going to be the easy one and I'm going to have to be the disciplinarian," he says. Adds Danielle, "Kevin doesn't wake up for anything."



The couple's puppy tug-of-war will be on display during the couple's new reality series, Married to Jonas, which premiered Sunday on E!. Throughout the season, fans will watch Kevin and Danielle struggle to house-train the dogs, who "like to use every carpet as their personal bathroom," according to Kevin.

"We definitely debated it," he says of the decision to air out the dirty carpet. "Dani was like, 'This is embarrassing.' She wants to call the Dog Whisperer [Cesar Millan] in the worst way."

Married to Jonas airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on E!.
