Cruise reacted Monday to Scott's untimely death with praise for the director and heartfelt wishes for Scott's loved ones.
"Tony was my dear friend and I will really miss him," said Cruise, who also starred in Scott's 1990 film Days of Thunder with Nicole Kidman. "He was a creative visionary whose mark on film is immeasurable. My deepest sorrow and thoughts are with his family at this time."
Scott jumped to his death from a bridge in Los Angeles Harbor on Sunday. He leaves behind twin sons with his wife, actress Donna Scott (formerly Wilson), who appeared in Days of Thunder, his older brother, fellow producer-director (Alien, Gladiator) and business partner Ridley Scott.
