It took him long enough, but Larry is finally earning his keep.

The British Prime Minister David Cameron's pet cat, hired to be 10 Downing Street's official mouser, has killed his first rodent, according to the Daily Mail. The rescued tabby was photographed Monday sitting outside the residence next to his victim, a small mouse.

The catch ends a long dry spell for the 5-year-old kitty. Though he was thought to be a good mouser when he was adopted from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home last February, Larry, who can often be found lounging outside, has failed to produce any prey for the cameras. Last year, a photographer spotted him lunging for a mouse and then missing.

But Larry's luck changed this week.

"Just arrived at work. Larry the cat sitting proudly outside No 10 front door with a dead mouse next to him," Tweeted Olly Grender, deputy director of communications at 10 Downing Street. "Contrary to popular belief Larry is not a tart for the cameras and moved."
