Angus T. Jones
has a tough choice to make this November when he votes in his first presidential election.
Luckily the 18-year-old star of Two and a Half Men
, who says he's registered as an independent, has been getting some solid advice from Chelsea Clinton
– and, no, she's not pushing one candidate over the other.
"Get an I Voted sticker," Clinton
told Jones Wednesday after a National Journal
panel at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla
. "That's still a really exciting thing for me."
Replied the teen star: "Absolutely! They better give 'em out in L.A."
Earlier, the two shared a light moment on the panel when Clinton playfully rolled her eyes as the actor addressed her as "Ma'am."
Attending the convention as a member of the Creative Coalition arts-advocacy group, Jones told PEOPLE that it's "a little bit of a bummer" that people assume all actors are liberals. He says he's currently undecided in the call between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.
Still, the Texas-born actor
says he feels right at home at the convention.
"I'm loving it – this whole convention culture," he tells PEOPLE, describing his favorite sighting among the festooned Republican faithful: cowboy boots bedazzled with the American flag.
"The only thing I could compare this culture to is either extreme sports fans, or extreme electric dance music fans," says Jones. "You get crazy costumes and people who are really dedicated and know what they're coming for."
