Eddie Van Halen's health is temporarily putting his career on hold again.
The Van Halen rocker, 57, recently underwent an emergency surgery for a severe bout of diverticulitis, according to a statement on his band's website
The common digestive disease – which happens when pouches that form in the wall of the colon become inflamed, according to WebMD
– has caused the guitarist and his music mates to reschedule their November 2012 Japan tour.
"The band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013," the statement says. "No further surgeries are needed, and a full recovery is expected within four to six months."
Health has been an ongoing issue for Van Halen. In 2002, he announced he was cancer-free
after battling the disease for about two years. In 2008, he postponed four concerts
to undergo medical treatment.
