After an eventful start to their St. Barts vacation – which found Countess LuAnn De Lesseps the subject of morning-after infidelity rumors
– the drama boiled over on Monday's episode of The Real Housewives of New York City
. And, naturally, there was a man involved.
Aviva Drescher has been open with the ladies about her anxiety, especially when it comes to travel. Initially, she declined to join them on their island getaway, citing her crippling fears of flying. But after some persuasion, and help from her husband Reid, who accompanied her on the journey, Aviva flew down to join the ladies. Only, some of them weren't necessarily thrilled by her impending arrival.
Worrying in advance that Reid's presence would ruin the Girls Gone Wild
vibe that Ramona Singer
and Sonja Morgan (a.k.a. Ramonja) had cultivated thanks to their wine-swilling and topless swimming adventures, the ladies plotted. Should they rent another house for themselves? (They did go looking!) Or would Reid stay at a hotel?
When Aviva arrived with Reid in tow, Sonja and Ramona loitered in the pool rather than rolling out the red carpet, which Aviva said she deserved. They also didn't thank her husband for helping her get to the island. When Aviva heard via LuAnn
that Sonja and Ramona were unhappily discussing Reid's presence on the trip, she lost it, calling the ladies "white trash," and labeled their behavior "disgusting."
Ramona and Sonja dished it back, shouting at Aviva, but ultimately Ramona ended up apologizing for what Aviva perceived to be her frosty reception. Did she mean it? Not exactly, she later said in her testimonial. She just wanted Aviva to calm down. But Sonja was unrepentant, tearfully insisting she was over it and had "turned a corner" in terms of her relationship with Aviva.
The episode ended in a tense dinner scene – foreshadowing even more trouble in paradise on next week's episode.
