Joe Simpson will fight the charges that he allegedly drove drunk last month in Los Angeles.
Simpson, 54, the father of Jessica and Ashlee, pleaded not guilty in an L.A. courtroom on Thursday, TMZ.com reports.
He is charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence. If convicted, he could face six months in jail, a $1,000 fine and 36 months of probation.
Simpson was pulled over at around 10 p.m. on Aug. 4 on Ventura Boulevard in the Sherman Oaks area of L.A. He spent the night in jail after his arrest.
A source told PEOPLE at the time that Simpson had had "a couple of glasses of wine at dinner with his wife" and took a breathalyzer voluntarily.
