Gilles Marini: Any Bone Is Worth Breaking to Win Dancing with the Stars

A fractured shoulder during Gilles Marini's 2009 stint on Dancing with the Stars isn't keeping the actor away from the ballroom.

Competing on the hit show's all-star season, premiering Sept. 24, Marini, 36, says he'll do whatever it takes to win the coveted mirror ball trophy this time around.

"The first time over, I fractured my shoulder and I ended up having surgery," he tells PEOPLE. "If I have to fracture something else and have to have surgery, I'll do it again. If I break anything, it will probably be fingers, an elbow, my shoulder again."

Aside from straining his body parts, Marini has a couple other things in mind to help him snag that top spot.

"This time, I'm going to try to be more flexible, and probably more energetic and less scared of what's going to happen next," he says. "Do I need to get better than the first time over? I probably will try my best, just because it's my nature. I want to work everything I have in my body."

But at the end of the day, his fight to the finish is for than just personal satisfaction.

"I want to go to the end for the smile of my daughter [Juliana] having a blast, knowing her father is doing something she can finally watch," Marini explains. "I just want to make people smile … It's not about me. It's about the 20 million people who would watch. I'm going to go through what I'm going to go through, but I'm going to do the best that I can."
