Katie Couric is getting (really) personal on her new syndicated talk show, Katie.
During an episode set to air Monday afternoon featuring teen star Demi Lovato, who battled an eating disorder and cutting, Couric, 55, opened up about her own past issues with body image – and revealed an eating disorder she had long kept quiet.
"I wrestled with bulimia all through college and for two years after that," Couric said while interviewing an expert in eating disorders.
Sharing details of her experience, she added, "I know this rigidity, this feeling that if you eat one thing that's wrong, you're full of self-loathing and then you punish yourself."
"Whether it's one cookie or a stick of gum that isn't sugarless ... sometimes [I would] beat myself up for that," she said. "That is such a huge thing for people who wrestle with this."
