Ryan Lochte Hits Pool to Surprise Young Swimmers
In a video shown on ABC's Good Morning America on Monday, Lochte, 28, thrilled the junior swimmers with an impromptu visit and race, which the world record holder won handily, much to the delight of the young athletes.
Lochte, an All-American at the University of Florida who holds 11 Olympic medals, has been on a public appearance tour. Dozens of fans – mostly female – showed up at an Orlando-area AT&T store last week for an autograph, where Lochte marked his first public signing since he won five medals in the London Games.
He is using his newfound celebrity to promote the work of the non-profit Water for People, which is devoted to providing clean water to people in developing nations. The buff athlete also is promoting a fitness DVD called Lochte Hard-CORE, which highlights his trademark sculpted abs.
Many fans asked for a look – and often a touch – and Lochte said he's happy to oblige.
"Every appearance I've done in the past few months, it seems like they always want my shirt off," Lochte told the Orlando Sentinel.
