The "Hot in Herre" rapper, real name Cornell Iral Haynes, was detained in Texas after border patrol at the Sierra Blanca checkpoint searched his tour bus and a canine found heroin, a loaded gun and marijuana.
All seven passengers on board, including Nelly, were detained. They were released after one man admitted the weapon and the controlled substances – 10.4 lbs of marijuana, .64 ozs of heroin and a .45 cal pistol – belonged to him. He was arrested and awaits bond.
"It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning, October 11th," Nelly said late Thursday in a statement.
"Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials in Sierra Blanca, Texas, did not press charges against anyone other than that individual."
Nelly isn't the first celeb to be stopped by police in Texas. Last month, Fiona Apple was arrested after police found .01 lbs. of marijuana and .010 lbs. of hashish on her tour bus – in the same town where Nelly was detained.
Also busted at this checkpoint: Willie Nelson, Armie Hammer and Snoop Dogg. TMZ first reported this story.
