They were three teenagers at the same high school but from different social circles, not even close friends, who now have a tragic bond: they all committed suicide in the last two months.

St. Clair High School in Missouri is reeling over the apparently unrelated deaths, the latest of which was Monday night when a 16-year-old girl took her own life.

An emergency forum Tuesday that had already been scheduled because of the suicides of a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy brought hundreds of residents of this town of 4,400, which until now was known for its whimsical twin water towers reading "cold" and "hot."

"I'm hearing anxiety, concern, frustration, all of the above, and rightfully so," school Superintendant Dr. Michael Murphy tells KSDK-TV. "Could this have been prevented?"

The first suicide was Sept. 28 and Murphy says the next two don't appear to be related or "copy-cat," The Missourian reports.

"Each incident seems to be in isolation of each other," he says, adding that counselors have been provided to staff and students.

At the forum, some parents complained about bullying at the school, but so far few details have been released by police, citing privacy issues because the students were minors, according to The Missourian.
