Kelly Clarkson's Grammy Nods: How She Found Out
When the 2013 Grammy nominations were announced Wednesday night, Kelly Clarkson was fast asleep in London – but not for long.
"My friends surprised me this morning with awesome news," Clarkson Tweeted from London Thursday morning after being woken up by a pal who informed her she had been nominated.
Clarkson's friend roused her at 4:50 a.m., armed with ingredients for mimosas, to celebrate her nominations for record of the year, best pop solo performance for her single "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," as well as best pop vocal album for Stronger. The songwriters of her hit single are also nominated for song of the year.
"Are you for real?" the American Idol winner asks her friend in a video of the morning wake-up call. "Oh my God, that is so awesome."
Clarkson – who won two Grammys in 2006 for "Since U Been Gone" and Breakaway – is no stranger to the awards show but finished her Tweet writing, "10 years later and still so excited!"
