Heath Ledger's Parents Have a 'Wonderful Relationship' with Michelle Williams

Heath Ledger's tragic death on Jan. 22, 2008, was five years ago, but his parents say they see a lot of their late son in his 7-year-old daughter, Matilda.

"Matilda is indeed very much like her dad," Ledger's mother, Sally, says in a new interview with the Australian magazine New Idea.

"However, she also possesses the beauty of her [mother] – lucky girl!" she adds, referring to actress Michelle Williams, Ledger's ex-girlfriend, (who is currently dating Jason Segel).

Matilda "has the same walk as Heath and is such a respectful little kid," Kim Ledger (Heath's father) says.



And although the Ledger family lives in Australia and their granddaughter lives primarily in New York with Williams, they remain close.

"Our family has the most wonderful relationship with Matilda and Michelle," says Kim. "We talk frequently and visit as often as we can."

They also say they mourn their son's passing every day.

"It has been an extremely difficult five years," says Sally, "as not a day goes by when we don’t feel the immense loss of Heath."
