This week our Biggest Loser contestants weren't too happy with me after I cleared out their kitchen and gave them each a budget of $10 a day to shop for a week's worth of food.
Clearly, some contestants (like Lisa) came with an advantage since they're used to cooking for their families. Others (like Alex) were used to eating fast food, and shopping at the market was definitely a challenge.
I can relate. There are times, like after a long day of work, when the thought of an easy drive-through is enticing. But then I remember how crappy I felt when I ate fast food in the past, and it inspires me to head to the grocery store or my local farmer's market and whip up an easy but healthier option.
After I left the contestants, I knew they were going to be heading to the gym for some harsh workouts. None of the trainers like to lose, as you know. Bob wants to keep the blue team together. Dolvett hates to lose, period. And Jillian had only one contestant left to focus on.
I love that you got to see a different side to them – a harsher side of Bob and a softer side of Jillian.
What did you think of this week's challenge? I was so incredibly proud of Danni for winning all on her own. Everyone knows the importance of the 2 lb. advantage on the scale this week. She had to really fight to win that outrageous challenge! Danni blows my mind.
By the time we got to the weigh-in and Bob talked of his different approach to the season, the grin on Jillian's face was priceless. You could tell that she too relished in seeing the tougher Bob emerge.
This week's weigh-in was one I won't forget. The red team managed to post great numbers, and that made both Bob and Jillian very nervous. Then the blue team stepped it up and their work paid off, especially with Alex's first double-digit weight loss.
It was a great moment when all the trainers and contestants could celebrate Alex's achievement on the scale and when she could walk back to her team proud of herself and then to be named Biggest Loser of the week.
And then there's Danni. When she took the scale, she knew that if she didn't lose 5 lbs. or more, both she and Jillian would be going home. For her to have lost so much weight all by herself and to not even need the 2 lb. advantage that she'd won was a great achievement. Then to see the trust and connection that she and Jillian have formed was even more special.
In the end, the red team said goodbye to Lisa. But did you see her "Where Are They Now" package? I'm so incredibly proud of her for all she's accomplished at home and the many ways in which she's paying it forward. Congrats, Lisa!
Now for my favorite moment of the week: Joe's celebratory dance after he finally broke the 300 lb. mark. You've got to give it to this season's contestants – they have moves!
