Scarlett Johansson Raves About Cat Costar Ben Walker's Bare Butt
"That is really one of the brighter points of my life," the actress, 28, tells Broadway.com.
Walker, 30, playing Maggie's husband Brick, spends a large chunk of the play wearing nothing but a towel, and sometimes (with his back to the crowd) not even that, giving Johansson – and the audience – an eyeful.
"I have asked Ben at times, when I was having a more difficult day, to just leave it out there for a couple more moments, just to brighten my day a little bit," she says. "I think it adds a little bit of hope in an otherwise dismal situation."
For his part, Walker is fine with people ogling his backside, as long as he doesn't accidentally reveal more than that. "With that towel on, butt is the least of my worries," he recently told New York magazine.
Johansson also reveals that she auditioned for the role of Fantine in Les Misérables, losing out to Anne Hathaway.
"Yes, I did. I sang my little heart out," she says. "I auditioned with laryngitis. I did everything I could to, like, not have laryngitis."
But she adds: "I think, looking at the film now, there's no possible way I ever could have topped [Hathaway's] performance. It was perfect and I think fateful and meant to be."
For now, Johansson has her hands full with Maggie, a demanding role that leaves her drained after every performance – and craving a little '80s TV.
"After the show ends every night," she says, "I don't want to do anything but sit at home and watch reruns of The Golden Girls."
