Patti Stanger and her beau, mortgage banker David Krause, appeared on Good Morning America Wednesday, and were asked by host Lara Spencer about reports they are engaged.
"We're not engaged yet," the star of Millionaire Matchmaker, 51, said. "But maybe watch the finale and you'll see something."
However, Stanger is sporting new jewelry: "I have a promise ring," she said on GMA, telling PEOPLE later in an exclusive statement from her rep, "A promise ring to me means a commitment. However, at the same time I have the freedom to take my time to consider marriage."
The couple, who met online and have been dating for about a year, debuted their relationship on her Bravo show. And Krause admitted he didn't know who she was when they met.
"That was just so crazy because I've never experienced anything like it before in my life," Krause, who has two teenagers, said on GMA.
On their second date at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, people started asking Stanger to take a picture with her, he went on to say.
"What is going on here, this is the oddest thing," he said he was thinking. "But I didn't ask any questions, because I figured she'd let me know when she was ready. And that night I raced home and Googled [her]."
Stanger, who called herself a "stepmom in training" when she spoke with PEOPLE in February, admitted that she doesn't follow the same rules she asks her clients to follow.
"I pretty much went down the list of all the no-nos and they really are no-nos," she said of dating before meeting Krause. "I probably would kick myself out of the club."
