Ever since Tiger Woods
and Lindsey Vonn revealed their romance
in simultaneous Facebook posts on Monday, the reaction from women has mostly been varying degrees of head-scratching.
Why would Vonn, 28, the fresh-faced skiing star and Olympic gold medalist, go for a man whose marriage-ending sex scandal
arguably made him a poster child for whom not to date?
Apparently, the answer is simple. "Tiger makes Lindsey happy," says one Vonn pal. "She isn't concerned what others think. She trusts her instincts. She is very comfortable with the relationship."
A source close to Woods, 37, says the golf pro has been open with Vonn about his past, which includes adultery and a 45-day stay in rehab, reportedly for sex addiction.
"They have sat down and talked it out more than once," says the source. "He has explained his side and owned up to what he did wrong. He has been honest with her. She's not freaked out by his past."
Rumors of a relationship heated up early last month, when Woods sent his private jet to fly Vonn home to Vail, Colo., after a crash on the slopes
at the Alpine World Championships in Austria left her with torn ligaments in her right knee and a fractured shin.
Woods, who was at Vonn's side during her surgery, "has been really supportive as she recovers from her injuries," says a pal.
