Jane Fonda Faced Cancer Scare with Stoicism

Jane Fonda is one fearless woman.

Following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2010, Fonda, now 75, reassessed her outlook on life, and came to realize she didn't feel any different than she did before the scare.

"[It] was a good test, because I always said I'm not afraid of dying," the double Oscar winner Klute, Coming Home says on Oprah's Next Chapter airing Sunday at 9 p.m. on OWN. "And I wasn't. I mean, I felt, god, I've just joined a family of millions of women who have gone through this. And how interesting. What a journey this is going to be."

Adds Fonda, "[I thought], you know, maybe I'll make it and maybe I won't. I didn't get scared. I hope I don't die. But I'm not scared of dying."



Following a routine checkup, a small tumor was discovered in Fonda's breast. Found to be non-invasive, the cancer was successfully removed with a procedure.

"She's 100-percent cancer-free,” her rep said at the time. "She's completely fine and it's business as usual for her."
