The Duchess of Cambridge is set to become a godmother – of a ship.

Fittingly enough, the ship that Kate is to christen with a bottle of Champagne is the 3,600-passenger Royal Princess, the newest addition to the Princess Cruises fleet.

The ceremony is set for June 13 in Southampton, about a month before Kate is due to give birth. Besides the Duchess's blessing, the launch is also to include a performance by the Royal Marines Band and the pipers of the Irish Guards, according to Princess Cruises.

The company's president and CEO, Alan Buckelew, said in a statement: "It is a great honor for Princess Cruises that Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge has accepted our invitation to become the Godmother to Royal Princess."

After her maiden voyage, the Royal Princess – whose amenities include an oversized atrium, a glass-bottomed SeaWalk (extending 28 feet beyond the edge of the ship) and a TV studio – will spend the summer cruising the Mediterranean before heading to the Eastern Caribbean in the fall.
