It's a fabulous
day for a wedding!
TV stars the Fabulous Beekman Boys – AKA Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge – are getting married on Friday at Beekman Farm
in Sharon Springs, N.Y., the couple tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Although they have been planning their ceremony for a year, the timing is extra special, they say, after the Supreme Court's historic decisions
advancing LGBT rights on Wednesday.
"We are thrilled that the Supreme Court has struck down DOMA
and dismissed California's Prop 8 appeal," the couple told PEOPLE. "As we prepare for our own wedding tomorrow, we hear the basis for the court's ruling in the unanimous congratulatory wishes of our neighbors in our small, rural, politically conservative village."
"Our neighbors prove that cultural values are indeed shifting, as they inevitably have, toward the basic intrinsic American values of freedom, inclusion and equality," they said.
Kilmer-Purcell and Ridge, founders of the lifestyle brand
Beekman 1802, appeared on their own reality show on the Cooking Channel, which documented their move from New York City to their upstate farm, where they raise llamas and goats.
The couple also won season 21
of CBS's The Amazing Race
, where they were popular contestants.
They will also have another famous face in attendance at Friday's ceremony: lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart
. (Ridge was once the Vice President of Healthy Living for Martha Stewart Omnimedia, and they remain friends.) Stewart plans to host her own radio show from the wedding site.
