Let's face it, July 4th is the real start of summer, and that calls for pure reading pleasure. Tell us what you think of our staffers' kick-back picks – and let us know what you're reading.

Revenge Wears Prada

Liz Rabidou, Executive Assistant
Her Pick: Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weissberger

The sequel to The Devil Wears Prada picks up 10 years after Andy Sachs told her boss to go you-know-where. She's in a new relationship, and she and her former arch-enemy Emily have become best friends after a chance meeting in a cooking for dummies class. It's funny to be able to picture the characters thanks to the movie. I'm really enjoying it.

The Enemy

Alynda Wheat, Movie Critic
Her Pick: The Enemy by Lee Child

Lee Child's books about itinerant do-gooder Jack Reacher, who roams the country with no possessions, solving other people's (usually lethal) problems, are ridiculously engrossing. This one is the first Reacher book to delve into our hero's stint as an Army MP. A general is found dead of a heart attack in a seedy motel just as the rest of the country celebrates the new year. Only Reacher notices that while the death may be natural, the circumstances are not. It's always great fun finding out what happens next.

Everything's Perfect When You're a Liar

Zoe Ruderman, Senior Style Editor
Her Pick: Everything's Perfect When You're a Liar by Kelly Oxford

I started this collection of personal essays last weekend at the beach and ended up reading approximately every fifth line aloud to my friends just because the writing's too hilarious not to share. Oxford, as any of her half a million Twitter followers knows, is snarky, wickedly funny and honest. Like, not-afraid-to-describe-her-DIY-enemas honest. She's definitely not for everyone (Mom, I'd steer clear), but I won't be going to the beach ... or the pool ... or anywhere else this weekend without the book in tow.
