The singer, 54, is "suffering from complications of recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy," a rep for Travis said in a press release announcing he was admitted to the medical facility Sunday.

Prior to that he was making headlines for pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated in a case that began last summer when the country music star crashed his Pontiac Trans Am. He received two years of probation, a $2,000 fine and a 180-day suspended jail sentence.
