Elisabeth Hasselbeck Bids Emotional Goodbye to The View

After spending a decade on The View, Elisabeth Hasselbeck marked her final appearance on the ABC daytime talk show with an emotional goodbye.

On Wednesday, Hasselbeck, 36, walked arm-in-arm with Barbara Walters before taking a seat at the table for what would be her last time.

"The past 10 years have been nothing short of extraordinary," Hasselbeck said after thanking the show’s producer Bill Geddie and co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar – who announced earlier this year that she'll be exiting the show – Sherri Shepherd and Walters.

"I did some math last night, and I think I’ve have had over 3,000 days working by your side," she told Walters. "I can’t ask for a better leader or mentor. You are the best that there is."

Hasselbeck, who first appeared on The View in November 2003, will replace Gretchen Carlson on the daytime talk show Fox & Friends. Carlson will be getting her own daytime show on Fox in the fall.

"I am happy and excited to confirm that indeed I will be joining the Fox & Friends team in September," said Hasselbeck.

But don’t expect to see a permanent replacement for her on The View anytime soon.

"We have a plenty of guests hosts, and we are going to take our time," said Walters of the show’s future plans to fill the empty chair.

"You have been such a big part of the show’s success,” she told Hasselbeck.  “You are going to leave a big void at this table."

Speculation about Hasselbeck's departure began last March with rumors that her political views would force her removal. Walters later shot it down as a "particularly false story."
