Amanda Bynes is not getting out of a psychiatric hospital anytime soon, following a judge's decision to allow her held there for two more weeks. At the same time, her parents are now trying to take legal control of the actress's life.

TMZ reports that late Thursday a judge granted an involuntary hold for up to two weeks following a hearing at the hospital where Bynes has been under evaluation since earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Rick, 68, and Lynne Bynes, 66, have filed an application for conservatorship over their daughter, according to multiple reports.

Following the actress's alleged driveway-burning incident outside Los Angeles on Monday – leading to her forced psychiatric hospitalization – it appears her parents finally have the legal grounds to apply for a conservatorship.

"Oftentimes families are placed in a tragic situation where they have to wait for their loved one to hit rock bottom before a conservatorship is justified," explains Terry K. Wasserman, an L.A. attorney who's not involved with the case.

A hearing is reportedly set for Friday morning.

What's needed to win legal control, experts say, is evidence showing a recurring pattern of out-of-control behavior and evidence she's unable to care for her own basic needs.

"The fire incident alone isn't enough, but coupled with her history of bizarre behavior, I wouldn't be surprised if her parents are granted temporary control, pending future hearings," says L.A. attorney Jeffrey S. Cohen, who's also not involved with the case.

It remains to be seen whether her parents are seeking control of both her person and her finances.
