As a reality star and a businesswoman, Tamra Barney has to work to make time for her family.

"It's hard. It's really hard," the Real Housewives of Orange County star told PEOPLE at The Smurfs 2 premiere in Westwood, Calif., on Sunday. "My schedule is a little hectic but there [are] compromises to be made."

Life has been a whirlwind lately for Barney, who opened C.U.T. Fitness studio five months ago and married Eddie Judge in an extravagant wedding this June.

"I thought because we had lived together [before we were married] that it wasn't going to be any different but it is," she said. "It is just so much more meaningful. It is amazing."

In between her new business, filming Real Housewives and Tamara's O.C. Wedding and her new hubby, Barney also is making sure to find time for the three children she shares with ex-husband Simon Barney.

"I try not to take away from my time with my kids," said Barney, who brought her children along to Sunday's kid-friendly premiere. "I try and schedule things that I have to do work-wise on the days [Simon] has the children."

But finding time to spend with her new husband is proving to be a little easier.

"We work together so we are together every single day," Barney said. "We work together, we live together. We are always together and we haven't gotten sick of each other!"
