Abducted Hannah Anderson made her first public appearance Thursday, attending a fundraiser for her and her family near San Diego, Calif., only days after her her dramatic rescue last weekend.

While Hannah, wearing yellow sunglasses, did not stop and speak to the press, her father, Brett Anderson, told reporters outside the fundraiser gathering place, the Boll Weevil restaurant in Lakeside, Calif. did.

"This is a small community that we are a part of, and the community came together putting on this great fundraiser for Hannah and hopefully for her future and healing," he said, reports CNN.

Brett Anderson also thanked local residents, family and friends, the media and law authorities, as well as the horseback riders whose sighting and phone tip to authorities led to DiMaggio and Hannah's being found.

"It was a chance encounter, but it did save my daughter's life," he said.

As for his daughter's current condition, Brett Anderson said, "She's just happy to be here."

He added, "Hannah sends her love. … She's doing good day by day, and we'll keep moving forward from here."

After an intense six-day manhunt that stretched from San Diego, Calif., to the Idaho wilderness, Hannah Anderson was found safe on Saturday after allegedly being abducted by James Lee DiMaggio.

Killed by an FBI tactical agent during Saturday's rescue of Hannah, DiMaggio is suspected of killing Hannah's mother, 44-year-old Christina Anderson, and 8-year-old brother, Ethan Anderson, whose charred remains were found in the ashes of the burned-down family home.

It was said Hannah did not learn of the tragic fate of her mother and brother until after her rescue.

CNN also reports that earlier this week Hannah shared some details of her ordeal on the social-media site ask.fm, saying that she did not wish to go with the man she knew as "Uncle Jim" and, once she was traveling with him, feared for her life if she had tried to runaway.

She said she is "absolutely" glad he is dead.
