Billy Connolly has been treated for prostate cancer.

According to a statement on his website, the Scottish actor underwent minor surgery in the United States and has successfully recovered.

Connolly, 70, also has the initial symptoms of Parkinson's disease, and is receiving treatment.

The Brave star, also known for his roles in Gulliver's Travels, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and The Last Samurai plans to continue working.

"Billy has been assured by experts that the findings will in no way inhibit or affect his ability to work, and he will start filming a TV series in the near future, as well as undertaking an extensive theatrical tour of New Zealand in the new year," the statement said.
