Fall's officially here, and you know what that means: sweaters, boots, Halloween, pretty leafs and, most importantly, pumpkin spice lattes. But for this lion, that also means learning you can't always get what you want.
Though he's got the sartorial requisites for the season down – fur coat, anyone? – the taste of autumn previously eluded him ... until now. On Thursday, his keepers at the Ouwehands Dierenpark animal park in Rhenen, Netherlands, helped him kick off the season right with a tasty treat as close to the beloved coffee drink as the king of the jungle can get.
Upon seeing the pumpkin, the lion helped himself to chunks of it, eagerly sinking his teeth in. But for the big cat, keepers added an extra flavor that human counterparts might not care for: chicken. The practice is to help the animals learn how to work for their food, a trait they'd learn in the wild.
At least he wasn't craving a cronut
