Julie Farin, Sr. Public Relations Mgr.
Her Pick: Belly Dance by Keti Sharif

Beautifully illustrated, this book gives an easy-to-understand cultural overview of the ancient "dance of the east" and also explains the basic body postures, steps and movements. It's the perfect introductory guide, whether you're daring enough to actually start shimmying or just want to learn about it.

Her Pick: Imbibe! by David Wondrich

Partly a bio of America's first star bartender, Jerry Thomas, Wondrich's book is also a recipe guide to making pre-prohibition era drinks. It's written with playful enthusiasm and academic rigor, and the cocktails I've tried making (the Knickerbocker!) were delicious.

Patrick Gomez, Writer-Reporter
His Pick: Straight People: A Spotter's Guide to the Fascinating World of Heterosexuals by Jeffery Self

Complete with interactive charts and graphs, this tongue-in-cheek how-to by actor Jefferey Self teaches readers how to identify heterosexuals based on everything from their favorite movies (the presence of Tom Hanks is a giveaway) to their favorite soda (Diet Coke is a female fave). Packaged like a bird watching guide, it's fun for straight and straight-curious alike.

Check back every Thursday for another round of staff picks, and see more book reviews each week in PEOPLE magazine, on newsstands now. Plus, check out last week's fall's new crop and more great book finds here.
