Miley Cyrus recently said in her weed-is-the-best-drug-on-earth Rolling Stone interview that she based her instantly infamous "Wrecking Ball" video on the haunting, tearful image of Sinéad O'Connor in the video for her 1990 mega-hit, "Nothing Compares 2 U."

Yet it seems the quirky Irish musician is less than flattered.

O'Connor, 46, penned an open letter to Cyrus, 20, on her website, reports E! Online, and O'Connor makes it clear that she believes swinging naked on a wrecking ball and twerking your way to the top isn't a recipe for a healthy, fulfilled existence.

"I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way 'cool' to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos," O'Connor wrote. "It is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether it[']s the music business or yourself doing the pimping."

O'Connor's expletive-filled-yet-maternal letter to Cyrus, whose recent behavior has been noted by everyone from Vanilla Ice to the Jonas Brothers – urges the recently un-engaged star to dial back the overt sexual stuff for her own good.

"Please in future say no when you are asked to prostitute yourself," she writes. "Your body is for you and your boyfriend. It isn't for every ... dirtbag on the net, or every greedy record company executive to buy his mistresses diamonds with."

She also urges the erstwhile Hannah Montana to be a better role model for her legions of young fans.

"The message you keep sending is that it[']s somehow cool to be prostituted ... it[']s so not cool[,] Miley ... it[']s dangerous," she writes. "Women are to be valued for so much more than their sexuality. We aren't merely objects of desire. I would be encouraging you to send healthier messages to your peers. That they and you are worth more than what is currently going on in your career."

She also urged Cyrus, who recently said she leans on her momager, Tish, to calm her nerves, to rid herself of anyone whose motives are less than pure.

"Kindly fire any motherf –er who hasn't expressed alarm, because they don't care about you."

On Thursday, Cyrus fired back on Twitter, comparing O'Connor to Amanda Bynes, who is struggling with her mental health.
