Boo from the zoo!

From the looks of this Instagram photo posted by Dancing with the Stars pro Derek Hough, however, no one looks terribly scared.

"Great time last night with friends," Hough wrote. "Love this time of year."

So does Zac Efron, who showed up at Thursday's 5th Annual Los Angeles Haunted Hayride premiere at Griffith Park to enjoy a night out with a group that included Hough and his sister, Julianne Hough, So You Think You Can Dance judge Adam Shankman and Pitch Perfect actress Brittany Snow.

A source at the hayride tells PEOPLE that Efron, 25, who completed a stint in rehab six months ago, looked fit and healthy – and even enjoyed a candied apple before going through the maze.

Efron left the hayride with Shankman and Snow (who is currently dating Teen Wolf actor Tyler Hoechlin). The trio go way back: Efron and Snow costarred in Hairspray, which was directed by Shankman.

Efron has been out and about recently: He appeared at September's Toronto Film Festival to promote his new film Parkland, a drama about the Kennedy assassination, and he also went on an inspiring trip to Machu Picchu with his father.
