Her Pick: Johnny Carson by Henry Bushkin

Written by his longtime attorney and confidante, this is the King of Late Night close-up. Unlike so many celebrity bios, it has the benefit of seeming both dishy and true. It's not just a question of "Carson revealed;" it's "Carson understood."

His Pick: Still Foolin' 'Em by Billy Crystal

This is a splendid and entertaining autobiography that's also a valentine to Crystal's wife, Janice. As heartfelt, honest and open as anything I’ve read. It'll make you want to watch When Harry Met Sally and City Slickers all over again.

Her Pick: Self-Inflicted Wounds: Heartwarming Tales of Epic Humiliation by Aisha Tyler

I thought I knew Aisha Tyler – Friends, The Talk, Archer – but I never knew about her hot motorcycle-riding dad, her hippie childhood in San Francisco and literally, all of her self-inflicted wounds (how many accidents can one child have?!). And what was really fun about this book, aside from Tyler's lively, conversational tone, was hearing about her early stand-up gigs, the fears she faced, her missteps on the road to fame and ultimately, her big successes.

This one started a little slow for me, but I guarantee that by the time you're done reading, you're going to want to be Tyler's best friend. (Speaking of, if you're reading this, Aisha, hi!)
