As one half of Sugarland, Georgia native Jennifer Nettles never shied away from mixing it up musically, blending classic country with pop and rock into the country duo's sound – and even daring to drop a reggae rap in their platinum-selling "Stuck Like Glue." Now with a solo debut on the horizon (her That Girl CD is due in January, while the single of the same name is currently top 40 on the country charts), the Grammy-winning singer continues to test new musical ground.
So it's no surprise that Nettles, who is hosting the Spotify CMA party Nov. 3 with PEOPLE Country, has eclectic tastes when it comes to music listening as well. But, she says, with the birth of son Magnus last December, her quiet time for discovering new music and appreciating the luxury of listening are at a premium.
"As a new mom, it's rare that I get a chance to sit and listen through any playlist," Nettles says. "However, from time to time I do find moments to listen, at more length, when my son is napping during travel. Those times are fewer and farther between, but there are those cool moments when I'm on a flight, baby is napping, and I can put on my head phones, close my eyes and enjoy. This would be an example of a playlist that would be the perfect accompaniment to looking out the window on the world."
