Alison Sweeney's Biggest Loser Blog: Ruben Studdard's Surprising Return

This week started out particularly fun because we had Sam Kass, the executive director of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative and senior policy advisor on nutrition, on the Biggest Loser set to talk with the contestants about nutrition and to lead them in a cooking challenge. I could not love Sam more. He's so passionate about nutrition and about combatting childhood obesity.
Given his focus on children, it was perfect timing to have Sunny, Lindsay and Biingo back to be part of the challenge. They all look so healthy and happy!
I love to cook for my family and definitely learned a few things while watching the contestants make their dishes. The alternatives for chips with the sweet potatoes and kale were great choices and ones we do at my house as well and that my kids love. The Blue Team's backyard quesadillas with finely chopped vegetables were really good and when I made them for my family's dinner, it was a hit!
When I got back to the Ranch for weigh-in, certainly a lot had happened. The Blue Team didn't expect immunity, the White Team didn't expect to each have a pound penalty and the Red Team didn't expect the return of Ruben. Like I've said before, The Biggest Loser Ranch is never predictable.
The Blue Team had impressive weight losses all around, losing 87 lbs., with the most notable number being Matt’s 21-lb. weight loss over two weeks. David losing 75 lbs. and Rachel losing 62 lbs. since getting to the Ranch were also huge accomplishments. At the end of the weigh-in, despite the White team's great numbers, we had to say goodbye to Craig for now. I know that by the time we see him at the finale, he'll have accomplished his goal of being a healthy father to his kids!
My favorite moment: Watching Tanya when she saw that she'd lost 15 lbs. and went from dreading the scale to loving it. What a great celebratory moment for her!
