Despite their petty spats and various mishaps, Monica, Joey, Chandler, Phoebe, Ross and Rachel always eventually recognized what the holiday was truly about (even if that realization took the heartwarming sight of Ugly Naked Guy sharing a turkey with Ugly Naked Gal). Here's a look back at some of our favorite moments.
The One Where Underdog Gets Away (Season 1)
The series' first Thanksgiving episode taught us some very important lessons. For one, be careful about lending your face to unknown advertisements for public health clinics. But more important, don't leave a turkey in the oven unattended without establishing who has the apartment keys.
The One with the Football (Season 3)
During an impromptu football match, things get increasingly unfriendly ("There must be a special place in Heaven for people who hung out with you two in high school," Joey tells Ross and Monica). But at least Monica has her priorities straight: "I've got exactly 28 minutes before I have to baste again."
The One with Chandler in a Box (Season 4)
Chandler spends dinner trapped in said box, in an effort to make amends for kissing Joey's love interest Kathy. But the penitent gesture seems less sincere when he begins pulling practical jokes from within the crate.
The One with All the Thanksgivings (Season 5)
While this episode was full of funny flashbacks to Thanksgivings past – which, of course, featured Ross and Chandler sporting Miami Vice-inspired suits and one amazing Flock Of Seagulls hairstyle – its most enduring image was Joey with a turkey stuck on his head.
The One Where Ross Got High (Season 6)
Monica forces Ross to fess up to their parents that it was he, not Chandler, who was responsible for the smell of pot in their college dorm room. A rapid-fire exchange between the two siblings ensues ("Monica and Chandler are living together!" "Ross married Rachel in Vegas, and got divorced, again!"), leading Phoebe to make the non-sequitur admission, "I love Jacques Cousteau!"
The One with the Rumor (Season 8)
Brad Pitt plays a once-overweight old buddy of Ross and Monica's who mentions during the holiday meal that he and Ross not only co-founded an "I Hate Rachel Club" in high school, but started a rumor that Rachel was a hermaphrodite. But before you can side with Team Aniston (er, we mean Green), it's revealed that Rachel started another rumor suggesting that Ross made out with the school's middle-aged librarian. It's okay, though, as Ross admits that one's true.
The One with the Holiday Armadillo (Season 7)
And to make your Thanksgivukkah complete, here's a bonus clip of Ross teaching son Ben about Hanukkah while dressed as the "Holiday Armadillo," Santa's "part-Jewish friend" (because, of course he is).
