The Comeback Kid remains confident.

After partially tearing her ACL in a training accident on Nov. 19, downhill racing champ Lindsey Vonn told Today that she is guardedly optimistic she'll be ready to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics, which begins in just 72 days.

"I'm confident it's going to be okay," the 2010 gold medalist, 29, told Matt Lauer about her knee. "At this point, that's all I can do, is stay positive. I'm kind of out of options at this point. I hope I can continue racing."

Lauer asked Vonn, who was in the midst of yet another comeback following a serious knee injury earlier this year, if she felt she was pushing herself too hard to get ready for the rapidly approaching Sochi Games in February.

"I don't think I was pushing myself too hard," said a ski-capped Vonn, who is in a relationship with golf star Tiger Woods. "It was just a fluke accident ... that's the risk you take when you're going 80-90 miles per hour down a mountain."

Continued Vonn: "Fingers crossed I can be racing next week. I've worked so hard all summer to get back to this point ... I'm still confident ... I still have a lot left to achieve ... and I still have time before Sochi."

The ski champ also explained that she is "feeling good" and "progressing every day." And, as Lauer noted, one should never count out Vonn.

"I don't think it's smart to bet against you," Lauer laughed. "I think I've lost money doing that in the past."

"You!" Vonn warned, wagging a finger at Lauer. "Don't!"
