The most wonderful time of the year just got even sweeter – 35,823,400 calories sweeter, to be exact.

Out to prove everything is bigger in Texas, the Traditions Club and St. Joseph Health System of Bryan, Texas, started working last year to beat the Guinness World Record for the World's Largest Gingerbread House. After endless icing tests, material donations and baking shifts, the team has succeeded.

According to the Traditions Club, the delectable structure is 60 feet by 42 feet and measures up to 20 feet tall. These figures beat out the previous reigning gingerbread giant, built at the Mall of America.

The structure may have started as a wood base, but it took 1,800 pounds of butter, 7,200 eggs, 3,000 pounds of sugar, 7,200 pounds of flour and countless volunteers to become the tasty, record-breaking reality it is today.

Of course, no gingerbread house would be Hansel and Gretel-ready without a few pieces of candy. More than 22,000 pieces were added to the house's facade after construction.

Now that the colossal confection is complete and Guinness-approved, visitors can tour the house and get their photos with Santa for a small fee. All proceeds will go to the St. Joseph’s Level II Trauma Center. The project has already donated $150,000 to the center and will continue raising money until the house comes down on Dec. 14.
