It's official. Garth Brooks
is hitting the road once again.
In what is certain to delight millions of his music fans, the country superstar, 51, announced his latest world tour
in an appearance Monday on Good Morning America
"Our baby is a senior in high school. We talked about it, all my babies are fine with it. Miss [Trisha] Yearwood
is fine with it. So now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music," Brooks told the show's host Robin Roberts
of winning his country-star wife
and his three daughters' approval for a return to touring.
After making a decision in 2000 to stop touring or recording until his daughters were grown, the Oklahoma native and Country Music Hall of Fame member had limited his stage stints. He had starred since 2009 in a one-man show at the Wynn Las Vegas hotel.
Now, with the blessings of those closest to him, the artist who has sold more than 100 million records, returns full-time to music with his full band. "It sure feels good to throw your hat back into the ring," he said.
"My children are off on their own ... I'm a phone-call dad now – that's where I'm at," Brooks, who became a new grandfather
in July, added of his decision. "I feel very lucky to have three healthy children and they are getting ready to step off onto their paths in the world."
