Let's face it, by mid-2014 (assuming Anchorman 2 does well enough), Ron Burgundy will likely be an actual news anchor, and this video will seem less funny in retrospect as Will Ferrell disappears from reality, subsumed by his most hirsute creation.
Until then, though, it's hilarious. Funny or Die gathered Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer and Chris Cuomo (all of whom apparently have history with Ron) to discuss Burgundy's journalistic abilities, integrity and lack thereof.
Blitzer, for example, reveals that he lost out to Burgundy for a lead anchor position because Burgundy's mustache was "slightly bigger than mine." "I love my beard," he continues, "but I would trade it for Burgundy's mustache in a heartbeat."
"You know, the truth is, when I first graduated from college and started reporting," Cooper confesses at one point, "I was just doing my best Ron Burgundy impression. Everybody was back then."
Cuomo notes that the years he spent interning for Ron Burgundy were the worst years of his life. "I heard he suggested building a wall in Berlin, just so he could deliver the news when it was knocked down," Cuomo states.
There's more, but you should really just watch the video, particularly for the part where Blitzer talks about Burgundy trying to poison him.
