I know it's wrong but I love
to surprise the Biggest Loser
contestants with new and unexpected challenges.
When we got to the diner, I knew they thought we would be having a pop challenge and then return to the ranch, but when they learned that instead some of them would be working at the diner for the week, the gravity of the situation was realized.
During the quiz, each of the teams did a great job understanding the obesity epidemic faced in the workplace. I was shocked to learn that two-thirds of the full-time employees in the U.S. are overweight or obese. This figure is so staggering to me and we need to figure out a way for employers to help their employees to lead healthier lives.
By the end of the rounds, the white team gambled and lost. The blue and red teams were relieved to be able to head back to the ranch but as Marie said, the white team just can't catch a break.
That said, we all know that in the real world there are a million responsibilities that we face and working out is sometimes the last thing you want to do. No matter how tired, working out remains critically important and, as Jillian
told her team, how
you work out is especially important when you have limited time.
I know that when my week is incredibly crazed, I can't beat myself up for only working out for 30 minutes a day but I can
beat myself up if I choose not to work out at all or if I make bad nutritional choices.
When we got to the weigh in, Rachel really helped the red team to stay safe for another week, losing 7 lbs. for the week and 89 lbs. since starting the show.
Despite having to work in the diner, the white team posted great numbers to win the weigh in, especially Tumi who lost an incredible 9 lbs. The white team proved that one can work a job and still have great weight loss … something that sets a great example to all of us.
Unfortunately, Bobby fell below the red line and had to go home. For Bobby, his journey was such an incredible one of self-discovery and I'm so excited to see his continued evolution.
My favorite moment of the week: The blue team avoiding the "temptation" brought to the ranch by the white team. This time of year, it's so easy to get caught consuming extra calories and this was a great reminder that they are not worth eating when your goal is to be healthy. I try a handful of raw almonds for something salty or a cup of blueberries for something sweet instead!
