Alongside guests Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, stars of the new movie Ride Along, Conan O'Brien set out to share a drive with an unsuspecting stranger thanks to the mobile app Lyft, which allows users to signal for a driver to pick them up.
After standing around a corner for a bit, which Hart joked was unsafe and made it seem as if the three were "selling a––," the trio were picked up by a man named Anthony.
For the next nine minutes, O'Brien, Hart and Ice Cube proceeded to heckle Anthony, asking whether anyone has ever had sex in his car (no, but someone has vomited), gathering his thoughts on "white people" and having him drive them to Runyon Canyon to try and get drugs.
Upon arriving at their destination, they also tried to stiff Anthony out of his payment.
While we're sure Anthony did eventually get paid, we have to admit his hitchhiking experience leaves something to be desired, considering what one lucky Dave Matthews fan received when she gave her favorite singer a lift to his own Hershey, Pa., show in July.
Emily Kraus spotted Matthews on the side of the road with a popped bike tire and drove him to the concert, where he thanked Kraus and her boyfriend from the stage, bought the couple dinner and gifted them with autographed tickets.
But there's a celebrity hitchhiking experience tops even that one.
Paul Samuel Dolman, who instead of providing the ride, received one from none other than Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David.
While driving across Martha's Vineyard one summer day, Dolman managed to extract multiple pieces of life advice from the notoriously grumpy star, including, "Sometimes you have to wander a bit, and do what you don't want to in order to figure out what it is you're supposed to do."
Three different stars, three different stories. Now we want to know: Who would you hope to spot stranded by the side of the road? Tell us in the comments below.
