The backup singer has moved to center stage.
"I'm still in shock, to be honest," Tessanne Chin
told PEOPLE shortly after winning the fifth season of The Voice
Tuesday night. "When [Carson Daly] said my name, I was just completely overcome."
The Jamaican powerhouse also admitted she was in awe after sharing the stage with Céline Dion
"That, for me, was an out-of-body experience because when you've had that dream for so long and it finally happens, it's unlike anything you can imagine," Chin, 28, said. "Then it's made even better when the person is so warm and so genuine and so sweet … I adore her."
The same could be said about Chin's feelings for her coach, Adam Levine
"He's passionate, dedicated and funny," she explained. "He's always trying to make me laugh, especially when we're trying to record. He's silly, and I love it."
Chin said Levine hugged her after winning the competition, but then it was quickly back to goofing around.
"He started to joke, like, 'Oh, Tessanne, what did you do today? Oh! You won The Voice
!' " she said. "I'm just super happy to share with him, too, because he's an amazing coach."
After the finale, Levine told reporters that he believed Chin "was destined for success."
"I knew this was going to happen in some way, shape or form for her," PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive
said. "This is just the beginning for her."
Chin's husband and mother were later able to join her onstage, making her victory that much sweeter, and other family members and friends were in the audience to watch her win.
"This is the first show [my mom's] ever been to, so it was lovely to be able to share it with her," gushed Chin, who said that before the season finale, her mother had to watch her perform "on the Internet in England early in the morning."
"[My family has] sacrificed with me for this moment and … all throughout my career," she added.
As for the first thing Chin wants to do after her The Voice
"Record an album," she vowed, before quipping, "I mean, apart from sleep and some good Jamaican food and hug my little nephew."
