Seventeen years after his death, Tupac Shakur's legacy lives on.

The late rap star's songs will be featured in the new Broadway musical Holler If Ya Hear Me. The musical – which is far from a look at Shakur's life – will officially premiere at the Palace Theater in New York City on June 19.

"Tupac is a prophet and I want everyone to see that. [Holler If Ya Hear Me] is a present-day musical using all of Tupac's music, but Tupac is not a character in the musical," the show's director, Kenny Leon, told Broadway.com.

The show is instead a tale of "friendship, family, revenge, change and hope," according to a statement released by the show's producers.

Shakur was murdered in 1996, when he was just 25. His image became an Internet sensation when his hologram performed onstage at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in 2012.
