So much for keeping a low profile.

Justin Bieber partied on wheels into the wee hours Sunday morning in a pre-Super Bowl bash in New York City, as the troubled pop star's skateboarding skills offered a surprise diversion to those who were there.

A rep for the 11th Annual Leather and Laces party, hosted by Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima, tells PEOPLE that the Biebs showed up with friends and a skateboard around 2 a.m. before settling into a private cabana.

He asked if it would be okay to skateboard and was given permission.

He then surprised partygoers by hopping off the banquette and skateboarding across the floor as the crowd parted for him.

After his display, the 19-year-old star was "very approachable" while partying until 4:45 a.m. and "was chatting with a few friends he had there and some of his friends' girlfriends and he was showing off a new tattoo," says the rep.

This was the second night in a row that the Canadian native was out partying: The previous night he slunk into a Maxim Super Bowl party (after being denied entrance at other parties), while his security team swatted away anyone attempting to snap a photo of the star.

Bieber will be arraigned Feb. 14 for his Jan. 23 Miami Beach arrest for DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license.
